Does The Rising Sun Offer Vegetarian Options?
Yes — The Rising Sun offers a wide range of vegetarian (and several vegan) options across the Selkie Cove sharing plates menu and desserts, including dishes like Yarg Arancini, Roasted Cauliflower, Macaroni Cheese, and Churros with Dark Chocolate & Salted Caramel.
What vegetarian options are on the Selkie Cove menu?
Selkie Cove's sharing plates menu (Thursday to Saturday, 5pm–9pm) has a strong vegetarian selection, including:
- Yarg Arancini — golden crumbed risotto balls with molten Cornish Yarg, on rocket pesto
- Roasted Cauliflower — with sweet-spicy apricot harissa and confit-garlic yoghurt
- Cornish Potatoes — confit garlic, smoked salt & aioli
- Macaroni Cheese — three Cornish cheeses, béchamel & a crispy panko crust
- Yaki Tomorokoshi — Japanese grilled corn with a sweet-savoury soy & butter glaze
- Hummus & Sourdough
- Smashed Cucumber, Feta & Dill
- Corn Bread & Chipotle Butter
- Kimchi Slaw
- Marinated Olives and Smoked Almonds
Two of the signature dishes also have a vegetarian option available on request: the Papas Rellenas (swap to a garlic mushroom centre) and the Hogs Pudding Corn Dogs.
Is there anything vegan?
Yes. Several of the Selkie Cove sharing plates (like the Kimchi Slaw, Hummus & Sourdough, and Marinated Olives) are naturally plant-based — worth flagging to the kitchen when you order so they can confirm.
Any vegetarian desserts?
Most of the dessert menu is vegetarian, including the Limoncello Tiramisu, Churros with Dark Chocolate & Salted Caramel, and the Affogato. The Cornish Clotted Cream Panna Cotta is set with gelatine, so it's the one dessert on the menu that isn't suitable for vegetarians.
Can the kitchen accommodate other dietary needs?
Yes — the kitchen is happy to talk through allergies and dietary requirements, and asks that you flag anything in advance so they can check ingredients properly before your order goes in.
