Eden Project or Lost Gardens of Heligan? Which Is Closer, Which Suits a Half-Day

If you're staying with us and only have half a day to spare, this is probably the question on your mind — so here's an honest answer.

Distance from us

The Lost Gardens of Heligan is the closer of the two, a short drive from Portmellon. Eden Project takes a bit longer to reach, so factor that into how much time you've actually got once you're there and back.

Eden Project

The big biomes are genuinely impressive and there's nothing quite like them anywhere else — rainforest and Mediterranean climates under one roof, plus events and exhibitions that change through the year. It's more of a full-day visit if you want to do it justice, and it leans more "attraction" than "garden."

Lost Gardens of Heligan

Heligan is a different pace entirely — restored Victorian gardens, woodland walks, and the famous jungle valley, all with a slower, more exploratory feel. Because it's closer and easier to do in a shorter window, it suits a half-day far better.

Our take

If you've genuinely only got half a day, Heligan is the easier win — closer, and built for a shorter visit without feeling rushed. If you can give it a full day, Eden Project is the more dramatic, once-you're-there experience. Either way, you're not far from us after — come back for a roast and a pint to finish the day off.
