Celebrations, Wakes & Private Hire at The Rising Sun
Yes — The Rising Sun can be hired for weddings receptions, wakes, and private celebrations, either as a full exclusive hire of the whole pub or just the restaurant space, with as much or as little arranged for you as you'd like.
I get asked this more often than you'd think — "can we actually have our wedding reception here?" or, just as often, "would you host a wake for us?" And the answer to both is yes, properly yes, not a squeezed-in yes.
Can I hire the whole pub?
Yes. Full exclusive hire means the whole building is yours — the bar, the restaurant, the outside areas, all of it — for whatever you're celebrating, or however you're grieving. Right on the beach, with nobody else's night going on around you.
Can I hire just part of it?
Also yes. If you don't need the whole building, the restaurant space can be hired on its own — a good fit for a smaller wedding breakfast, a wake, a birthday, or any celebration that doesn't need the full pub but wants somewhere that feels properly set aside for you.
What kind of events do you host?
Wedding receptions, wakes, birthdays, anniversaries, and any private celebration that calls for a proper venue rather than a corner of a normal trading night. If it matters to you, it's the kind of thing we want to help you mark properly.
How much do you arrange?
Genuinely as much or as little as you want. Some people want us to handle the food, the drinks, the room, music, all of it. Others have a very clear idea of what they want and just need the space and the team to make it happen. We work around you, not the other way round.
Why here?
This is a genuine 17th-century, Grade II Listed building right on Portmellon Cove — you won't find many places where your guests can step outside and be on the beach. Whether it's a wedding day you want people to remember, or a send-off that does someone justice, the setting does a lot of the work for you.
How do I enquire?
Get in touch and tell me what you're thinking — the date, the size of the group, and roughly what you have in mind — and we'll take it from there.
